A storm is defined as being violent, causing an uproar, causing a disturbance, and causing chaos. So why chase a Storm? Why run after this tornado, cyclone, hurricane, or typhoon?
Are storm chasers just a bunch of masochists running around?
Maybe that’s the case but ill argue that it’s not. Storm chasers are maniacs that cant rest knowing there is a greater force out there.
So why don’t more people chase after a storm? People are afraid. We are terrified of uncertainty and this is the very thing that cripples us. We fear to fail. We fear being judged. We fear to be who we truly are because we don’t know who that may be.
For the majority of us, we stay in our heads our whole life and that’s how we live. We think of possible scenarios and we weigh the outcomes and we don’t do them. We convince ourselves that it wasn’t meant to be us or that we aren’t experienced enough yet. We convince ourselves that living in our heads is the safest and the healthiest option.
We don’t chase our storms because of the uproar or chaos it will cause our lives to become. We settle for consistency and complacency because it brings us comfort.
We fear bungee jumping, what if the cord breaks or I have a heart attack? We fear scuba diving, what if sharks eat me or I suffocate? We fear to ride on a skateboard, what if I break my bones or damage my face. We fear to leave our job, what if I lose everything and gain nothing. We stay married even if we are unhappy, what if this is a temporary feeling and I’m overreacting. We stay still because moving will hurt us. We are so afraid of pain that we tiptoe around it. We fear so many things because we don’t have 100% certainty that this won’t hurt us.
Well, we can choose to live in our heads and become slaves to our fears or we can let go. We can make a conscious effort to just try new things and be fearless. You will never be guaranteed with 100% that you won’t be eaten by a shark if you swim in an ocean. You will never be guaranteed with 100% that you won’t crash your car. If you take the risk then you will 100% certain of the outcome. To be 100% certain then you have to do the damn thing.
I wanted to create a blog platform that doesn’t just motivate but talks about hard-hitting news. I wanna talk about it all! Corruption in governments, lies, and deceptions, silencing of cultures and minorities, and psychological effects of the human mind. Chasing the storm will now be dedicated to research and politics and of course continue to be a feminist platform.
