Dear Dad,
Thank you for taking a leave of absence in my life. I haven’t been able to understand why I was given this fate. But now It is been made clear to me. If you had stayed and provided anything to me, my mom or my brother then I wouldn’t be the woman I am today! I wouldn’t have seen the countless hours my mom has devoted to her job. She sacrificed a lot in her life to give me a spectacular one. I wouldn’t have noticed how much of my mom’s life she gave up just to get me to a top school, to travel Europe, and to make me understand that there is more in this world then our front yard.
I wouldn’t have been able to understand the oppression of women in today’s society. I wouldn’t have seen a part of me that burns like embers. I’m so passionate about women and everyone who has had their voices hushed by another, to be able to speak is a right not a privilage.
“It is vain to expect virtue from women till they are in some degree independent of men.”
― Mary Wollstonecraft, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman
Forever and always,
Storm
